How I am growing Sovran in 2024
I am at $200 MRR not $0 anymore! I am finally covering my ~$150/mo in expenses running Sovran. So that leaves me about $50/mo to cover rent, food, utilities, gas….
I need to get it in front of more eyeballs because it’s transforming lives.
The prevailing wisdom is to spend as much time marketing as building.
It’s a problem every business faces.
As a solo founder bootstrapping, I need to prioritize my time and find the highest leverage.
When making content, I need to remember that people don’t have short attention spans. They have higher standards.
The channels I want to improve in 2024 are:
I have ~3k followers right now and I plan to grow my audience there with better content. I have been studying Jasmin Alic’s (162k followers, 54x more!) posts the last few days. What am I learning?
Comment more on other people’s posts and give value
Better formatting to make it easy to read
End with a P.S. to ask an easy to answer question or for reposts
Comment on my own posts with questions or links to increase engagement

LinkedIn outreach
There are two types of outreach:
Warm → I start conversations with people who engage with my posts, follow me, or look at my profile. I want to see if Sovran can help solve their problems.
Cold → I send connection requests to ‘Performance Marketers’ and ‘Creative Strategists’. This harmonizes well with my LinkedIn content. When people accept my connection request they see my posts. Hopefully they find value in it and subscribe to Sovran.

I started this newsletter 12 months ago to improve my writing. I felt compelled to write about emergent AI and Growth Marketing.
I want to keep sharing my learnings here regularly.
I don’t have plans to monetize, or gamify referrals, or to force growth with lead magnets.
This is like a journal for me where I get to organize my thoughts, or learn about a subject by writing.
It still blows my mind the quality of people I’ve talked to from my writing and the doors it has opened up.
